Alerts & coastal risk
The risk engine turns the predicted track and wind into colour-coded warnings for each coastal location, with actions for authorities and advice for the public.

Next 24 h track prediction
Method: persistence of the last 12 h motion plus half of its recent acceleration, intensity trend over water, and Kaplan–DeMaria exponential wind decay after landfall. Cone radii (35 / 55 / 75 / 95 km) follow typical 6–24 h official track errors for the North Indian Ocean.

For authorities
Order evacuation of low-lying coastal villages and kutcha houses. Open cyclone shelters, pre-position NDRF/SDRF teams, suspend port and fishing operations.
Recall fishing boats, prepare shelters, stock food, water and medicines, alert hospitals and power utilities, close schools if needed.
Review district plans, check communication links, issue public advisories through local media and SMS.
For the public
- Follow IMD and district administration warnings on radio, TV and the MAUSAM app.
- Keep an emergency kit: drinking water, dry food, torch, power bank, medicines and documents in a waterproof bag.
- Fishermen should not go to sea when an Orange or Red alert is active.
- Move to a cyclone shelter or a strong building early if you live near the coast or in a kutcha house.
- During the storm stay indoors, away from windows. The calm of the eye is not the end: winds return from the other side.
- Emergency numbers: 112 (all emergencies), 1070 (state disaster control room), 1077 (district control room).
